Fort Polk, LA, August 5, 2010 - Picerne Military Housing at Fort Polk entered into a contractual relationship with Multi Family Services in 2004. After the successful completion of an initial 5 year contract, MFS was awarded an additional 5 year contract in March of this year.
On Friday, July 30th, just four months into the five year contract term, MFS informed Picerne via an e-mail message that it had ended all business operations and would not fulfill its obligations under its contract with Picerne, due to unrelated business matters beyond Fort Polk. While we cannot publicly discuss all of the specifics regarding the contractual issues with MFS, we would like to clarify that to date; MFS has not experienced an interruption in the normal payment schedule under its contract with Picerne.
Picerne will soon hire another firm that has previously worked at Fort Polk to perform lawn maintenance within the family housing areas on the installation. Picerne's goal is to do everything possible to ensure that the service members and their families will experience little to no inconvenience relating to lawn maintenance issues.
