Local & Regional Information

Fort Polk is home to the Joint Readiness Training Center, a state-of-the-art training facility for the Army. Along with JRTC, the post is committed to improving the quality of life of the Soldiers not only through the housing partnership but also by adding new restaurants, improved child-care and MWR facilities, as well as AAFES facilities. Residents can easily access banks, schools and shopping without even leaving post.

Nestled in the piney woods of west-central Louisiana, Fort Polk brings together small town living and the beauty of the great out doors. Fort Polk is only minutes from the town of Leesville and is centrally located in the state. You're only hours from larger cities such as Dallas, Houston, Shreveport, Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Those who love the outdoors are in the "sportsman's paradise" being a short drive from Toledo Bend, the fifth largest reservoir in the United States. Visitors can also experience the wonderful Cajun culture and customs simply by visiting south Louisiana.

Fort Polk is considered the "best hometown" in the Army!
