About Our Program
- A 50-year vision -

Housing Privatization is a Department of Defense initiative intended to improve the quality of life for military families through private sector practices and creativity. Under this initiative, the service member's Basic Allowance for Housing is paid as "rent" to maintain, repair, renovate, manage and construct family housing. Since taking over the family housing at Fort Polk in September of 2004, Picerne Military Housing is not only building better homes that today's Army families deserve, we are also building a sense of community throughout our neighborhoods.

In partnership with Fort Polk, Picerne Military Housing is currently implementing a 50-year vision called the Community Development and Management Plan. This plan is for managing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading the existing housing and neighborhoods. The plan also calls for designing, constructing and subsequently managing and maintaining 3,661 new and renovated homes. Each neighborhood will also feature a Neighborhood Center with a pool, fitness center, playgrounds and many other amenities today's Army families deserve. We are committed to serving you for the next 50 years as we continue to put Families First.®
