Eligibility Criteria

You are eligible for Privatized Family Housing at Fort Polk if you are an active duty service member with accompanying family members assigned to an installation within 35 miles of Fort Polk. For new move-ins, on the date of occupancy, military members must have a minimum of six months remaining on their current duty assignment.

Priority 1: Key and Essential

Priority 2: Incoming Soldiers

  • 1) Eligibility date

  1. A) Soldiers are allowed to apply for housing 90 days prior to their report date. The Soldier's eligibility date is the date of application.
  2. B) Eligibility date is the date they cleared last duty station if applying within 30 days of clearing last duty station.
  3. C) If applying for housing more than 30 days after clearing last duty station, eligibility date is the date of application.
  4. D) If coming from a spouse restricted tour, eligibility date is date they cleared last duty station prior to the restricted tour, not to exceed 14 months.
  5. E) If this is their first duty station and they were married at the time of enlistment, they are back-dated to the time they graduated basic training.
  6. F) Newly married Soldiers are back-dated to the date of their marriage if they apply for housing within 30 days of their marriage.

Pet Policy

Pets are an important part of the family. Picerne Military Housing is sensitive to the relationships that exist between residents and their pets. To minimize health and safety issues a pet policy is in place at Fort Polk.

  1. 1. A maximum of 2 pets, either dogs or cats of any combination is authorized per household
  2. 2. Pit Bulls, American/Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, Chows, wolf hybrids, and crosses of these breeds are not allowed in Fort Polk family housing
  3. 3. Pet policy changes effective 1 JAN 2010
  1. - Pet deposits ($250 per pet) are charged to families moving in after 31 DEC 2009
  2. - All existing, registered pets that were grandfathered in under the previous requirements will not be required to pay the ($250 per pet) deposit
  3. - Current residents who acquire a pet after 31 DEC 2009 will be subject to the pet deposit
  4. - Pet deposit is refundable upon move-out provided there is no damage to the home

Renter's Insurance Information

As a resident in Picerne's homes at Fort Polk, your family becomes members of the extended Picerne family and will automatically receive $20,000 of insurance coverage for your personal home contents. This is just our way of saying thank you for choosing Picerne Military Housing. All new residents receive a Renter's Insurance Summary in their move-in packet.
